So Much To Do, So Little Time

I have always felt, as a parent, that the time from Halloween to New Years Day is such a blur. This year is even worse because of the move. (Can't wait to be with Stucco in Seattle! I am so jealous, my skin is turning green!) I am supposed to be packing right now but I find that blogging is so much more fun. We have been trying to keep busy so we don't miss Stucco so much. (Not really working but oh well.) On Fri. night, A. and I had the good fortune to be able to participate in a "sleep-in" at the Museum of Nature and Science with the Girl Scouts. It was an event to help the girls learn about Engineering and how cool it would be to become an Engineer when they grow up. A. left with the idea that she now wants to be a Biologist (way cool!) It was great except for having to "sleep" on a concrete floor. We left the museum Sat. morning and picked-up Z. from T. and C.'s house. He had a great time with M., and C. made cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Z. loved them so much that he ate 4 for breakfast! Thanks C. for spoiling him! ;) After letting the pups out after 18 hours home alone inside (no accidents! WooHoo), we switched A.'s suitcase out and dropped her at a friends for another sleepover. Z. and I headed up to the mountains with D., C. and J. for a Halloween Hike at the Lookout Mtn. Nature Center. We hiked in the forest at night and solved "The Mystery of the Missing Pinecones." The moon was a crescent shape and partially lit our way. The wind was whipping through the Ponderosa pine trees so it sounded like ocean waves. I love that sound! When we were finished hiking, we had warm cider and popcorn inside the Nature Center. It was such a great experience! On Sun. Z. and I picked-up A. and went home for a bit of a rest before we went to a Halloween Party that evening. The party was great and it gave A. and Z. another opportunity to wear their costumes (pictures will follow.) All in all a very busy time. My favorite time spent this weekend was guiding Stucco through the streets of Seattle on Google maps. Then we compared the pictures, and it was almost like we were there with him.

I would classify myself as a spiritual person who no longer conforms to any particular religion. However, I did take Pants' and KelKel's advice and I buried a statue of St. Joseph in the front yard. Because he was a carpenter, he is also the Patron Saint of The Happy Home and Homesellers as well. After A. and Z., and I buried him in the yard, we were inundated with showings and 3 couples with interest in possibly buying our home. Today, after the inspection, one of the couples confirmed that they want to buy our home. We will close on Nov. 22nd! I am only left to conclude that St. Joseph heard our prayers and answered them. We will dig him up on closing day and he will have a place of honor in our new home in Seattle. Thank you, St. Joseph!

A Seattle Start

Can you stand it? The Native Americans who live in the Pacific Northwest say that the mountains are their backyard, and the ocean is their front yard. I am so excited to explore the area and show A. and Z. the beautiful surroundings. Seattle has a lot to offer a family like ours. So much history and different maritime-type culture, the Public Market and sooo much yummy seafood! Can't wait to get there. I feel like a little kid at Christmas!

An Apple a Day...

I do love apples but I ADORE red wine. I am glad they have finally proven, beyond a doubt, that red wine has many great health benefits. Drink up friends.

Cranky in Colorado

Patience is something I do not have in abundance. I am really tired of waking up early to dust, vacuum, wash dishes, do laundry, sweep the garage, water the grass, rake the leaves etc. etc. These are things I am doing daily to try to help sell our home. It is getting really old. I am grateful we are getting the showings and at least people seem interested in looking. Hopefully the interest will turn to buying in the near future.

We are fortunate to have friends like Pants, O., Andy, Mer, T., C., D., and M. to lend their homes as a place to "crash" when we have showings. They have gotten an earful from us about the Denver market and we are grateful for their support. To everyone who is sending out good thoughts for us, thank you so much!

So I am excited, scared, impatient, happy, exhausted, proud, aching and at any moment I feel as though I could puke. EXCITED because we are moving to SEATTLE!!! SCARED because relocating your whole life to an unfamiliar part of the country with 2 children is a bit overwhelming. IMPATIENT because I want our house to sell quickly and this is a sucky market to sell a house in right now. HAPPY because we are going to be so close to the coast where I have wanted to live for a very long time. EXHAUSTED because I am working against 3 people and 3 dogs who don't understand that we need to keep the house immaculate in order to sell it. PROUD because Stucco got the job so easily (they realized his enormous potential.) I had to write that to give Stucco something to comment on that could be twisted into something pervy!) ACHING because we have worked non-stop on this house trying to get it ready to sell. Finally, my stomach feels like it is in knots and I hope the transition goes well. Keep us in your thoughts and please understand if I am preoccupied and a bit non-communicative. IT"S CALLED STRESS!! But a good kind of stress!
