Dog Tired

It was a gorgeous day here in the Seattle area! I was lucky enough to spend a good part of the day with Meno. She drove us to a beautiful area to the east that I haven't had the chance to explore before. We went for a hike. Now, I am not talking a gentle stroll around a park. It was a real, honest-to-god hike in a woodsy area complete with lush greenery, trees and a view that takes your breath away. Speaking of taking my breath away, I am in such sorry shape these days. I was winded for a good portion of the time. I need to work my way up to this trail, as I want to return, and make it to the lake. Meno is in top condition and strode uphill easily. I will aspire to her level, though it may take me years to get there! It was so good to spend time outdoors, getting to know Meno better. She has a great sense of humor (if you haven't read her blog you need to check it out.) We ended the hike by getting a cookie. What a perfect morning it was!

I Like Cowboys in the Shower

Stucco had the day off on Friday, and the wee ones were in school. This meant we had a whole hour of child-free time during my lunch hour. So without going into details, we had some "alone time" together, and I went back to work with a big smile on my face. Later that evening, we were driving with Z. in the truck, discussing our favorite time of the day. Under my breath, I said my favorite time had been earlier in the shower. What Stucco heard was, "I like cowboys in the shower." He said, "What?" "You want a cowboy in the shower?" I laughed out loud and said, "Yes!" Z. laughed too and said, "What Mom, like Woody? (A cowboy character from the Disney movie "Toy Story.") I laughed harder and said, "Exactly!" Of course Z. didn't know what we were talking about, but it was just such a funny conversation. I am going to find a small Woody figurine and put him in our shower someday. It won't be as exciting as a "real cowboy" but funny nonetheless.

What Would You Do?

So I rushed downstairs in my usual frantic, morning pace when I decided I needed to wash some beautiful red grapes for A. and Z. to pack in their lunches. I tossed the grapes in the colander which was sitting in the kitchen sink. I washed them thoroughly with the sprayer, and set them to dry on the counter while I made my coffee. Now, Stucco is in the living room, and a few minutes after the kids had packed their lunches he pipes-up and says, "I washed the dog shit off my shoes yesterday." "Come over here and see if you can still smell it." At this point, I am just horribly offended that he wants me to determine if his shoes are indeed shit-free. Then, knowing Stucco as well as I do, it occurs to me to ask WHERE he decided to wash his shoes off yesterday. Yes, folks, "in the kitchen sink" was his reply. I asked (silly me) if it had crossed his mind to disinfect the sink after he washed his shoes off. "Well, no." he says. I calmly asked him if, in the future, would he please use the bleach to clean the sink immediately after he washes his shoes or would he, FOR GOD"S SAKE, wash them outside with the hose?!!
