My Valentine Present

Stucco made my day! He replaced my baking stone that I left in the house in CO with a beautiful new one. My old stone was 11 years old and was perfectly seasoned. I made the best cookies and flatbreads on the old one and I plan to break-in the new one tomorrow. Thank you Hunny! Love you more.

Yay! Now I don't have to commit breaking and entering. Except I'm stealing the old greenhouse and setting it up next to my new one. (If it will ever stop snowing long enough for me to put it up. *sigh*

Now that's a thoughtful present!

I make pizza but cook it on a screen. Do you think it would do better on a stone, i've never used one.

Pants- I am glad I won't have to bail you out of jail for the stone, however, I have bail money ready for the greenhouse ;) I asked for the portable greenhouse that you got recently for Mother's Day. Stucco said he'll get it. Woo hoo!

Thanks, Maggie! I love gifts that last. Flowers, balloons, chocolates- they are all nice but they are gone so quickly! I hope you had a good V-Day!

Meno- I've never used a screen before so I am not sure which would be better for pizza. I never actually made pizza on my stone (just reheated leftover take-out.) I am a baker- cookies, breads, etc. There is no comparison with cookies prepared on a stone. They are the best!

For what its worth, I've made Pizza on the stone (hell, I make everything on the stone) and it turned out much better than those screens, or air bake pans.

I also have a friend that is a baker, he swears by them, I recall he leaves a stone square in the oven to help cook all his foods, I'm not sure of this concept but his breads and pizza's are perfect.
fwiw.

Hi J.! My neighbor leaves her stone in the oven too. She says it helps even-out the heat in the oven. I'll have to try that.

Now on to the blog about Stucco's bruise (per your request! ;)

Say "hi" to T. for me :)
